What the Fans Want: Selina

With the new upgrade of Blogspot.com, bloggers are now able to track their viewers' activities and boy, I was surprised to find that one of our featured model Selina Xiong's story has the top phrase searched and viewed within the last year. According to Blogspot, there have been over 2,100 views, the closest to that was Sothia's Civic. Amazing on a weekly scale, her feature story still trumps the latest blog written.

In honor of this awesome find, I thought it would be appropriate to dig into some old photo files and edit a few as showcase.

Talking to a few drivers I know, looks like 2012 is going to be crazier fun drifting year. 2011 was a huge step for Minnesota drifting in terms of talent level and gaining exposure to the sport. Towards the end of the season, both Elko Speedway and Raceway Park events had record attendance numbers. Throughout the summer I witness over 14 drifting events, from private practices to full competitions, and with each event I’m seeing that the talent level is increasing. For a state that only allows us to drift four months out of the year, Minnesota drivers are kicking asses.

2011 has definitely created a huge momentum; already some events have been confirmed with dates- see calendar. I’m excited to see more drivers for 2012, there are going to be a few returning drivers, as well as lot new ones, and veterans of course. 2012 will be another awesome year so whether you are a driver or photoG- get your money right and let’s get out there to represent Minnesota!

It seems that everybody in this industry owns a car that represents their business or reflects their agenda, i.e. Mark Arcenal of Fatlace, although he has a few collection, S14, or Alexi of Noriyaro.com, Mark II and so on. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to buy back a car I previously owned, and decided that I was going to make it the face for JMP. It was a 1991 Honda Civic hatchback with a B16 engine overhaul. The owner had decided to resale it because he was too discouraged to rebuild it after recovering it from some thieves.
My plan for the Civic was set for minor track car quality with an emphasis on stance. As much as I like drifting and wished I never sold the RB, I tried my best to give it a bit of that drift look like fat lip, super low, and wide stance. Not to mention, the fact that I love nostalgic old school look. The car has been slowly put together since, however half way into the build I decided I was going to have it ready for a car show and race event. With the motor already swapped and head ported, I focused much of my attention to the appearance. Many thanks to my good friend Vang at HID Lighting and Accessories for some cool shiny parts and an awesome suspension setup. Also, big ups to Jesse from Primo Performance for fabricating the seats and exhaust together- very satisfied.
By October I was able accomplish both goals, the hatch looked nice and low at the show and held it together throughout the day as I raced her in spectator drag race event at the Raceway Challenge event hosted by EPDC. 2012 is approaching and I’m happy to announce that I might have another opportunity knocking- this time it won’t be a Honda and my goals won’t be so high. As a result, I’m looking for a new home for the hatch and will be up for sale officially in the upcoming spring. Selling for $3k as is.

Lessons from 2011: Lens Options

Shooting race events can be very unforgiving, that if you don’t have the right equipment, the whole day can be wasted and you don't get the shots you wanted. There is a difference between you chasing the cars and getting low quality photos from standing calmly, waiting and taking your shots. Yeah, I heard it all from, it’s about your positioning to lighting and even how to “properly” shoot with your lens. From my one year experience (lol) into this art, there is some truth to it, but ultimately it comes down to one thing, "MONEY".

If you take this sport seriously, so should your pockets. Those days are gone of shooting with Target lenses, although, I never owned one myself(thank god!). Sorry if I sound like a total douche-bag but "don’t hate the playa, hate the game".

This past year I played with three lenses, 70-300 f/4-5.6, 300mm f/4, and 70-200mm f/2.8 (non-is)- all Canons. Shamefully, being a total noob and thinking I could save a few bucks, I started the year with the Canon 70-300mm. Although, I liked the range that it had, I was frustrated with the quality that it gave me. My biggest regret was all the time I was wasting with the 70-300mm, I could have been using other lenses. But not until it was nearly the end of the season that I had given up on the lens entirely and already had another one in mind, the "L" lenses.

Of the two I tried, I like the 300mm the best. Hooray for prime lenses!

*If you don’t have money to play, may I suggest renting? At this point of my life, I can't imagine paying $2k for a camera lens based on internet review. Rent first and try which is better for you and then save up to own, because renting can be expensive in the long run.

Breaking News: Saito FD 2012

I'm grassroot but even this news caught my attention. Dispite the fact that some of you don't like Formula D, and that's another blog itself, breaking news comes out of speedhunters.com is that Daigo Saito (the father of Mark II) is coming to FD in 2012. As a drift fan, I would say that Mr. Saito was probably one of the first videos I saw that dropped my jaw. He was wild as hell and drove his Mark II like a mad man- hitting sideways with maximum speed and angles. I think he would be a perfect fit for FD.

There's little info about the news at this time, only mentions of his team and the fact that he's coming 2012, but I wonder if he's bringing his JDM car, better yet, will he be racing a v8 - if not, when? LOL. One thing is for sure, I will be screming alot of, "abunai" (danger) in 2012.

A year’s worth of wisdom.

It’s December 2011, around this time last year I was strategizing how to be propel JMP to the next level. If you read the blog, I sound like Hitler planning his European invasion. However, it’s a totally different vibe this time. My ambitions are not as ambitious (lol), but don’t get me wrong, I’m still hard into the game- just a different mindset.

After playing the field, I’m pretty proud of the decisions and moves I made this year for JMP. If you can understand my last few blogs [sorry, crazy rants most of the time] (1)I’m sticking to grassroot over mainstream. (2)Marketing wise, JMP will still continue our contributions to drifting and the local automotive scene with one slight difference, we won’t be marketing the JMP brand as much as the website. Currently, we are interested in looking for future advertisers to help keep website going strong. (3)I made some staff changes by splitting with my very talented photographer/designer and make-up artist personals. I’m forever in-debt to you and the work you’ve done; we will continue to work together in the future. (4)Lastly, I’m very excited to bring David Vu into the JMP family. Thanks to David, JMP’s events, writing, and morality have been greatly improved/boosted. This is what I’ve been lacking all along, someone who shares the same passion and energy for the sport as I do. We've worked on a few successful projects, and looking forward to do more next year.

Photography is Not Work

Call me naïve but the idea of being a hired photographer is something that I vowed to never do again. When it comes to photography, I consider myself as an artist. And as such, I have no boundaries, rules, nor will I take any instructions. A week ago I played into the devil’s hand (greed), and took a paid assignment. I was excited, mainly at the fact that it would be challenging given the circumstances. Like low light setting, the kind of subjects, and lack of equipment. The photos turned out great and the customer was satisfied, but deep inside I was totally out of it. If this is going to be my second grind, I really should stick to my model which is that photography is not work.

My goal in photography is not to be a millionaire, but to one day be tapped on the shoulder by the car industry to be a photo journalist or an official media- preferably in drifting. I know that sounds contradictory to what I just mentioned about photography and art, but to me a car IS art. I want to take it to the highest level. My greatest fear is to be a 40 year old photographer still shooting for Facebook friends approvals.

“I’m just lighting up my La…La…La…La…” It is either the self-painted Hokusai painting on the hood or the bright yellow paint dripping off of Collin Melody’s Nissan 240sx that you can not help but draw your attention towards it. If the artwork or color does not catch your attention then I am positive the rumbling underneath the hood will. There are many who tries to build their version of a performance vehicle and from looking through craigslist ads, that seem to only go as far as building and to the for sale sign. I am always happy to see when someone build with a purpose and put that exact reason into use. There are too many beauty queens and though they do look good; looks can only go so far. I honestly can't even call a drift car a drift car without some zip-ties holding the bumpers together and battle wounds. I have always point out that if it's too pretty then most likely they don't or can't drift. Saying all of this, from the pictures you can clearly see that this 240sx is put into good use and isn't shy to show it. From purchasing a nearly stock body 240sx to the yellow screaming drift machine you see today, it’s hard to believe it took Melody about a year of piecing everything together.

With the help of Primo Performance, Melody’s 240sx took it form in the shop throughout the year. It originally came with a SR20 that was swapped over to the bigger displacement KA24E that quickly went under the knife. The block was fitted with Eagle rods connected to Wiseco slugs for security to hold the positive pressure that was waiting from the PTE 58-57 snail. Melody did not forget the cylinder head, where it was fully rebuilt and a Cometic head gasket mated snugly in between the 2.4Litre block. A custom made turbo manifold took place alongside with custom intercooler plumbing to help direct boost going to where it belongs. With all the parts going into the motor, it started looking like it can hold some serious power. Thinking of how to harness and put this new found power in sync, help was ask from RSmotors and they quickly had it on the rollers dialing in numbers and in no time it was ready for the streets and track.

“Making the roll cage was probably one of the things that took the longest with the whole entire build. It was my first time building one (roll cage), so everything was a trial and error but I think it came out pretty well,” said Melody when asked what made this particular build difficult then others he has done. The intentions from the start of this build was to have something bulletproof, to be able to withstand countless abuse on the track, and have a solid engine set-up that follows that very purpose; quickly looking over that mod list, I believe that Mr. Melody clearly built that type of car. For Melody, some future plans is to have a smaller quicker spooling turbo and more shiny new suspension parts like most drift cars. Melody’s Bright Yellow 240sx screams “LOOK AT ME NOW!” and with Hokusai’s “Great Wave off Kanagawa”painting, it truly fits well with that very intent. It surely was a big splash at this past 2011 Drifting Season and a bright future is instore for this work of art. We will be looking forward to more of Collin Melody and his drift machine in the 2012 season and you should too.

Off Season PMS

Lately I’ve been contemplating about leaving the JMP brand and picking up on something else. This feeling grew and propelled me to share it on Facebook, some of you responded me with private messages expressing your concerns and motivation (thanks, and all considered). In my search for inspirations and ideas for my next venture, I spent about 2-3 undisturbed hours online reading some popular automotive websites and blogs. To my surprise, I actually found the opposite. The notion of doing what’s popular is overrated, because all these sites have the same photos, videos, and same group of self proclaiming heroes and celebrities. Why does everybody think they have to head east or west for fame? I think I’ll stay here (M.I.N.N.E.S.O.T.A) and let "them" come to me.

Feeling a bit pissed, I hopped on my Flickr account and found this as my new inspiration. Not sure what Andrew was thinking when he built this, but my take would be: “fuck you and your trend; I’m doing this for me.”

JMP is unique and has a rich passion for automotive as a sport (currently drift). From my recollections, (I need to put my company objective and goal on paper and read it everyday) JMP was built to bring attention to the everyday local car enthusiasts- and that’s exactly what we’ve been doing. Other sites may have fancy photos and cool cars, but the best photos and cars are the ones on the track. So why change, especially when its been working, and most importanly, it’s something I really enjoy. "The kid is back" - Jay Z.

Brothers Rivalry

Actually, it's not as bad as you think, granted I don't know exactly what goes at home, but they were pretty well behaved at the shoot. Knowing these guys personally, secretly, I've been wanting to do this shoot for a long time. Thanks guys!

The big brother, is truely "the big brother". A true Skyline GTR. Car is amazingly strong pulls hard from the last time I remember. His biggest problem now is tires, and seems to go through a set every season, even though it's only street driven. A few upgrades and minor issues has been solved, currently he's trying to make to at least one or two track events next year. One of them being drift I hope.

Little brother is a Zenki 240sx. Car is classy and settle just the way he prefers it. The motor is stock, but diff box is welded shut for some fun. I so miss mine.

JMP, a Bit Grown

My aspiration for world domination is completely dried out- slowly realizing that world needs less business people and more artists. It’s funny to see people in this industry take themselves so serious and dub themselves “king”. I know it’s your “grind” and you’re trying to run a business, blah, blah, but please don’t flatter yourself (talking to myself, lol).

This year, as a production group we failed. From a business stand point, it's all about the flat bottom- and the bottom stinks. And I take full responsibility, because I was in total denial. As a result JMP, will be in revamping mode– shaking some of the old dusts and licking my wounds. JMP will gone on, whether it is just by me or my new partners, I’m just excited for whatever lays ahead.

In conclusion, if you don’t like me, fuck me- if you like me, let’s “fuck” (not literally, but you get the idea).

Summer days are the best days when they are share with good company and cars. This 2011 summer I had just that and more with a good friend, Neng of Jmuag Production(JMP). From the beginning of Modern Automotive Performance (MAP) NOS energy drink Drift Series to the last few days of having a camera in my hands, it was filled with enjoyable times and a good amount of photography. I started this season with very little to no knowledge in the art of photography and had no idea what I wanted out of it, but as the months passed I started enjoying myself capturing photos of these wonderful work of art in action. It was a pleasure to be part with JMP covering these events that goes unheard to the many that only wish they could be there.

The first event of MAP’s Drift series, I went into it not knowing how I was going to capture cars drifting along the banks of Elko Speedway. A few days prior the event JMP took time and told me some of his tricks of the trade to capture the perfect drift picture. With time and patience I slowly understand that it wasn’t just putting the camera in Auto mode and clicking away. I realized that having a “still” photo wasn’t ideal, but to add motion was the best way of capturing these cars in action. It was easy to have the camera set at the fastest shutter speed but to find that medium of showing motion and crispness of the lines of a car was truly an art form that slowly unfolded in front of my eyes. I started seeing pictures in a different light as I got exposed to this new world that I knew very little about.

As the months passed and I started feeling comfortable adjusting all the settings of the camera, I became more efficient. I remember the first time holding onto the camera and thinking to myself why am I doing all this for one picture and now I understood that each picture is different. I would panic and thought it was hopeless, but I knew that I had to get it down to knowing where to adjust each setting to because each one was crucial to each picture. Still slow, but I started trying different things and tried to get my own style to my pictures. I started seeing how every photographer that I saw had a certain uniqueness to their photos from someone favoring HDR to adding a load of saturation into the picture. Whatever you may prefer each photo was unique in it’s own right.

From waking up early and standing around clicking the camera away, I wouldn’t have it any other way of spending my Saturdays. I guess I could, like having tons of girls waiting to pose for a picture and getting tons of friend request on Facebook(Tydus Photog lol), but it was fun being able to take photos of cars in their natural habitat. My favorite event that I attended with JMP has to be for MAP’s Proven Ground at Brainerd International Raceway because I felt at home. This being my 3rd time at Proven Grounds I felt this time was a bit special since I was there with a purpose. I loved taking photos of the many cars from EVOs to a fully dragged out Civic. It was most definitely fun and I had a blast at the track watching cars going down the 1320, drifters/autoxer’s/road racers/bikers attacking corners. If anyone hasn’t heard about MAP’s Proven Ground or been wanting to go but haven’t yet, I suggest you to go next year because if you’re looking for Minnesota’s Fastest imports, that’s where they will be at. Oh…and look for the guy in the purple shoes cause that’s probably JMP in action and remember to pose for the camera.

This summer was truly a good one and it was a pleasure of taking pictures alongside JMP. I learned a lot during this season and looking forward to taking more photos in the future. It was a great experience and I only wish it didn’t have to come to an end. Like most good things it has to come that and just wanted to share some of my experience I had with JMP. It is truly a special “production” that really just contain one guy reaching out to local racers and getting their story out to the people. It’s guys like JMP that makes the local scene bloom into something great instead of having haters and thieves ruining it and preventing it to be something great. We need more coverage of local events to let other racers know that there is a market out to be tapped in your local scene instead of always dreaming heading out to the west or east coast and even over seas. I see the scene here in Minnesota being more professional and soon enough will have our own platform to build upon. With guys like JMP I am sure that the local Minnesota scene will bloom in the next few years. Thanks JMP for the work you do….

Brooklyn's Finest

“HELLLOOOOO BROOKLYN!!” Growing up in Brooklyn Center, MN and being into cars, I have always heard the name “Team Brooklyn”. Being known for their All-motor Hondas to their now race-tracked turboed Civics, Team Brooklyn has come a long way. This includes Kou Lee and his journey of claiming the quarter-mile spot. Lee started in 1999 with his first Honda, a 2nd generation Acura Integra that was equipped with the beloved B16a. After running a very respectable 13.3ET with a 75 shot of laughing gas, the drug we all know and love quickly grew inside of Lee. From his days of reckless street racing to track driven times, Lee set a goal of becoming one of the quickest Hondas in Minnesota and putting Team Brooklyn on the map.

I have always used Lee’s 10 second civic hatchback as an example; with the right parts, the right tune and driver, going fast does not have to be flashy. Reading car forums and magazines of people installing MSD ignitions and all these big parts with no real rhyme nor reason, glancing over Lee’s engine bay, you start noticing the stock distributor and none of your usual flashy parts you see in today’s cars. Everything has a purpose to serve and nothing was there just for “show”. You start second guessing the set-up and even going as far as thinking that there is no way it is capable of such power and time slips. These thoughts plays over and over in your head until you see it in action. As soon as you watch Lee line up; all that doubt quickly leaves and suddenly you realize that it’s the real deal and you are simply left in “Ahh” as it blast down the strip.

If it wasn’t for the race roll cage and rumble underneath the hood, this 10 second hatchback would maintain underneath the radar. For it’s low-key presence, there’s definitely a monster stirring under and once the throttle opens, all hell breaks loose and you just hope God can save you. But at first glance, you would never imagine it being able to blast the 1320 with so much force, like the saying goes, “you can’t judge a book by it’s cover”. Being at it’s street form, the 1993 Honda Civic hatchback may look like your ordinary civic roaming around city streets, but underneath that carbon fiber hood, a 662whp B20/vtec quietly whispers and waits patiently to be heard.

Being influenced by teammate Steve “Ram” Yang breaking into 11’s, Lee started on his journey of building his vision of a “True Street” Honda. Starting out with a ‘93 Civic hatchback, Lee had his eyes set on keeping it as close to a daily driver as possible, but after a year of owning the future drag queen; that idea slowly became a faint memory(though it still can be driven on the streets). Lee opt to get more power by adding a nice turbo kit into the mix and from there it started to grow; wanting to drive an everyday turbo civic at 10psi quickly changed to the screaming horrid 30psi monster that it is today. The civic’s first power plant was a B18c1 and though it was a good jump-off point, it could only last for so long until the thirst for more power came into play. Bringing the displacement up was the next goal in line and with a fully-built B20 block, assembled by Lee, it quickly replaced the 1.8. With a nearly stock cylinder head that is internally dressed in Skunk2 gear, it can amaze anyone how far these cylinder heads can be push. Three years in the making, Lee’s hatchback quickly became one of Minnesota’s top contenders at Modern Automotive Performance’s(MAP) Proving Grounds held at Brainerd International Raceway (BIR).

It seem as though that every year that passed, Lee was getting faster and the place to showcase Lee’s hard work and effort was at MAP’s Proving Grounds. From the first year of running mid 10’s, Lee knew that he can go even deeper. After an off season of putting in a race roll cage made by MeanStreet Performance and a new turbo set-up from the help of Full Blown Motorsports, Lee was on a mission to tear up the drag strip with a low 10 second ET. Before heading out to BIR, Lee stopped by DBperformance to do battle on the rollers and have the one and only Shane Ziegler to tame the beast. Putting down a 613whp, Lee was ready to prove himself at BIR. This past 2011 Proving Grounds was an unforgettable one, even though Lee got eliminated in the “True Street” Class because of some mechanical failure, he was surely the quickest Honda that day. Laying down a personal best of 10.10@139.7mph, Lee had accomplished what he was set out to do and that was to dive deep into 10s and survive.

“Running a low 10 was my goal and if I would’ve broke 9s then it would’ve been even better,” Lee replies when asked if he will continue trying to break the 9 second barrier. With the end of the 2011 season, the questions that comes to mind is “What’s next?”. Lee knowingly well that the car is capable of high 9’s with more seat time and new dyno numbers of 662whp, one can only think if this is the new goal. A few days before the interview, Lee posted a for sale thread on some local car forums to see if anyone would be interested in the well-built track car, with no response yet and the possibility of selling the beloved civic, I asked what would be next if it doesn’t sell. The first thing that comes to mind is quickly summed up in “bigger and badder”, from upping his PTE SC6262 turbo to something bigger that can suck the clothes off a woman to having a Drag front-end, the sky is the limit on what will be in store. Feeling almost satisfied with what he have accomplished in the 3 years of building, Lee already has a project lined up and if the Civic sells, then that means more funds towards the new project.

From his journey of building his vision of a “True Street” daily driver race car, Lee has achieve what some can only read on internet forums and magazines. No one knows what’s exactly in store for the 10 second civic, but I can truly say that this will not be the last time we hear of Kou Lee and Team Brooklyn. Time and time again they have shown the local scene what they are capable of and nothing seems to be slowing them down. From being garage built and track ready, Lee has displayed what it takes to be one of the quickest in Minnesota. Where’s Brooklyn at? Right here!!!

Raceway Challenge: Drift Recap

The top 8s were amazing to watch, simply for the thrill that about half of these guys were considered "novice" about a week ago. A few guys had less then 2 years experience of drifitng. You may beef about the "uneven" matched up, or that Raceway "sucks," blah blah, but the truth of the matter is that this event pushed these drivers to the next level. I think as a driver who wants to be good, I can appreciate that. Never would imagine that I would get to see Chance and Eric tandem in top eight, on top of it all, they "one more time" finishing off with he closest side by side performance I've seen at Raceway.

Chance and his Pikachu Mobile. It's crazy that last year he was so nervious about hitting the walls- this year, he placed 3rd last week and this weekend he gave a veteran his moneys worth for 2 rounds.

One of the main reason I didn't I want to do media for this weekend because I wanted to see the whole thing in real time, especially this guy. I thought the best run was with Andrew- Sam, you were perfect! Congrats on the finish- awesome year buddy!

Keith, someday I wanna be just like you! Awesome photographer and drives so fucking well. Congrats on the win! Awesome car and guy- always does it with class. I love it!.

Many thanks for the participating groups and everyone for making this possible. Special thanks to HID Lighting and Accessories for hosting us- I hope this puts you on the map now. Personally, the best touch up for this event was the music, which was provided by the DJs from team Evolution at Stargate Nightclub.

The event was packed, although we did not have many large big Minnesota tuners representing- this event was for the average "Joes" who own the car, drive, race, and showcase it- and that is something I was very proud to see. We bought 200 note cards to pass out to each person as ballots for the best in show competition, with 20 minutes I ran out with some didn't get a chance vote- so 5th grade math tells us that we had over 200 footprints- hooray!

I Will Drive This Mofo Before I Die

Thanks Shawano International Raceway (SIR) [USA International Raceway, USAIR] for reaffirming my love for drift and possibly rekindling my desire to drive once again. I was bitching while on my way to Shawano, thinking why drive 5 hours to a drift event that I could have easily spend 45 minutes or even sooner to Raceway? But I was reassured that when I get there I would not regret it- and I'm truly glad I went. Seeing the entire track for the first time boiled something inside of me...I want to drive again. Officially made it a personal goal of mine, I will I drive this mofo before I die.

SIR is incredible and has a feeling of nostalgic Japanese mountain passes, kinda like the scenery in the popular Initial D series. There are various of mounds and hills with hair pin corners, but still offering some pretty cool wide banks. The track surface is prestine, smooth, and very clean. I can't wait for next round, as a driver I hope.

Besides the fact that it was an awesome track, SIR brought the fan boy in me because I got to see some very rad cars that would otherwise be view only on the internet. It was awesome seeing Simba's 240 up close, this thing looks even better in real life.

Probably one of the most chaotic shoot ever, operating on 2 bars of batteries and 20% memory space. Although, I shoudn't expect too much, because I mainly wanted to test the hype over this 50mm prime lens. Overall, the combination of this lens with the focus points of the 7D, was an absolute charm to work with. My only regret is maybe I could have given her more accessories to truly test it out.

Rice Killer Recap: We be killin’ THEM!

Rice Killer. Rice Killer. Rice Killer. These two words I have been hearing for the past year and a half and finally this past Monday (8.23.2011) I attended my first RiceKiller.com(RKC) meet. Needless to say I was impress at how organized the meet was, from having people directing incoming/outgoing cars from the girls at the entrance greeting you. At first I thought it was just going to be total mayhem with people peeling out of the parking lot and with no sense of direction, but it was just the opposite of that. I can see that RKC put a lot of effort into having a place for local car enthusiasts to meet with each other and showoff their hard earn money that usually goes unseen.

Walking along the isles of cars I started getting that old feeling of how it use to be going to Midway(university ave) on weekend nights before STP law enforcement kicked in and having dumbasses ruining it for everyone else that was there to hang out. It was a flashback of memories of walking around the Foodsmart parking lot, talking to random people about their cars and just getting to meet other enthusiasts. Remembering how it use to be back then and now it's no where near it, what RKC is doing is something that everyone has always talked about but no one was willing to execute it. I never would imagine anyone would actually be able to rent a spot out where people could just gather and hang out for one evening a week but I am glad that RKC is doing just that.

Meeting up at Primo Performance and cruising alongside with the Empty Pocket Drift Crew (EPDC) to RKC meet has to be one of the most epic cruise I was ever part of. Showing up in fashion time to the meet and seeing the mass of people just shifting weight from the main parking lot to the rear where we were parked was like seeing the tides of the ocean rise. Having drift cars, Hondas and lowriders just shows the diversity of cars that you will expect to see and that’s just the beginning. It’s open to all sorts of cars and I think I even saw a viper and an oldschool muscle camaro. It’s great to see a wide range of cars that anyone from any car community can come and be welcome with open arms to display what they have been working on in their garages.

Seeing the amount of people willing to bring out their cars to display and how easy it is to talk to one another is a great sight to see. It beats chatting on car forums every day and not getting to see each others' cars, besides pictures. Having RKC meets gives that human nature back of connection where I believe that the internet filled up for and people started lacking a sense of communication. It brings the local car community together and having a platform like RKC is a great jump off point. It was a great first time experience and has open my eyes to attend more meets even though I was a little late on it.

I think having a spot where legally people can come and hang out has always been something everyone wished for. I truly feel that the car community, especially for sport compact cars, is finally finding their own spot here in Minnesota. Where muscle cars had Porky’s and we were just stuck at the other end of University to get harassed by the men/women in blue. It’s great what RKC is doing and I can only see it getting better as time progress(as long people don’t fuck it up). From the first time hearing about RKC to now, I can really see that we need a place like these meets. It should show to the public that we’re not thugs and criminals invading parking lots on a Monday night, but just everyday people that share the passion of getting together and showing each other what we love and that’s cars.

So…props to Troy Schultz and RiceKiller.com for throwing them Monday night meets and NOS Energy Drinks for providing the awesome free drinks and eye candies (oh you know). Much love to EPDC and Primo for showing us the way to show up in FASHIONABLE time and manner. If anyone hasn’t been to a RKC meet I suggest you do so fast before it gets too cold and everyone will be talking how they wish it was warm for a RKC meet. So, get out there and enjoy these last few weeks of warmth.

Matt Hansen's 1JZ (stage 2)

Behind all the awesome EPDC cars is Matt Hansen. The paint behind Sam’s Rapebull- Matt, Audi’s wall tap recoveries- Matt, Collin’s luscious yellow- Matt, and so on. His attention to detail and talent shows in his 1JZ s13. Yes, I said 1JZ! As badass as that sound, it was not an easy task. It was a project that consumed over 2 years and countless hours of head scratching. Parts are extreme rare and finding a knowledgeable mechanic for opinion was mind numbing. However, the hard work has paid off and now it’s time to enjoy the fruits of labor. It was a bit of a struggle, but Mr. Hansen was finally able to get his machine on the track at Elko Speedway.

How long did it take for you to do it?
It took me about 2 years to get it to where it is. I had lots of help from Ron at RS Motors, Sam, Audi, and Jason. I only put the best of parts on the car so it took time and money to get and wiring it up was also a challenge.

Why not the 1JZ, and not the RB?
I got the 1jz with the ORC clutch and a brand new R154 trans from Ron at RS Motors. It was his idea from the begining and I kinda stuck with it. After dropping it in and watching Sam go through all the work with his RB just to make it reliable and powerful I am glad I made this choice. The 1jz is a stronger motor and a more powerful motor. It is the best in its class.

Would you recommend the motor, and the swap to anyone?
future plans?
I would totally recommend this swap to anyone. The only thing is is that it wasnt very easy and took time. But well worth it. My future plans are unclear as of yet. I am begining body and paint work right now. Ron has me really thinking about goin with a single turbo and building the head around it for great response and very little turbo lag. But my main thing is to help Sam and Audi make it to the top even if it means letting them use my car as a backup car.

Most annoying thing about the current setup (chassis, swap, and motor)?
The only annoying thing about the swap/car is it is powerful and the power is right there right now. The twins spool so fast and it makes amazing torque.

Sothia's Civic : Intro to Team Shadowz Racing

It's been quite a while since I seen a Honda in full action. Ever since I got hooked on drifting I thought I would never looked back, and so I thought... My first sighting after a long while was at MAPerformance Proving Grounds event about 2 months ago, when I saw some kids tearing it up and actually hanging with all the high power hot rods and tuner shop race cars. It was pretty amazing that later into the finals, they were among the few imports that were still there. Team Shadowz Racing (TSR) is their group, and boy are they fast. I witnessed a full interior black coupe, no cage, and no crazy front end blasting through the drag strip and finishing off in 10.5 seconds-yes, 10 seconds! Later I would come to find out that that was only a single cam engine. Call me noob, but that's fucking incredible!

It was more stunning to find that they have a few more similar and potentially faster cars. After getting to meet TSR a bit more through Facebook exchanges, we agreed to meet at one of the MAPerformance Drift event this past weekend. Although the mid 10sec. car as mentioned was not able to make it, they did manage to bring Sothia's red coupe. To be honest, I wasn't impressed at first glance due to it's almost stock looking exterior. But as we progressed through the shoot and the more I learned about this car, the more I fell for it. This beast was built with lots of appreciation for simplicity, functionality, and lot of mean speed.

*to all those kids who think you need 4" exhaust to go fast, here's a 10s car with almost factory like size. Run and tell that, homeboy!

Here's the skinny on Team Shadowz Racing from their own words:

It started in spring of 2010.

Our mission? Hmmm I'm not even sure. I just know that when we go out as a team, we do our best out there not just by winning or being the fastest but to set a positive aura.

I want people to know that being a team is more than just a couple guys hanging together but to become a family.

We just want people to know that if we can do it, they can do it too.

If anyone see us at the track and need helps or tips, they are more than welcome to come ask us. We'll do the best we can to help them. Us hmong people need to unite and help each other more. Through this, we will be a force on the track to be reckon with. Just my thoughts lol

We're currently holding the record for Minnesota fastest d16 right now with a 10.52@135mph. Last year, we were able to set a record of 11.44@121 for a fully stock block d16.

*Sothia's car was built to be comfortable on the street but still able to put down some 10s. He also built the car as a gift to himself for all the hard work and times he gone through. Sothia civic was driven over 2 hours to Brainerd for the Map proving grounds and driven back, now that is what I call a real true street car. When I ran the 10 second in sothia car, it was on low boost at 450whp. His high boost is 646whp. We still haven't yet do a all out high boost run yet.

$600 Dollars on a Shitty Camera

It was the worst of time, but never the best. It was a great learning experience starting on the day I purchased her. Somethings are just better to make a decision and act on it, not the Obama way of look and see or creating a committee to investigate for farther actions. Which in my case, wasting $600 dollars on a shitty camera to see if I wanna get into photography. Trust me, if you get a good camera, you’d want to be a photographer from day 1- why not, the champagne and dollars flows endless- okay, that part I kid.

When it comes to this trade, there’s no such thing as shallow or deep end- just make a decision and dive right into it. To all you photo-g’s out there who are deciding whether you should upgrade your equipments or not- I say “DO IT ALREADY”. The same people who are telling not to otherwise are the biggest hypocrites themselves, because they drive a POS but have $20-50k in camera equipments.

Photography is all about getting the artist the best chances he/she has to getting that “perfect” shot. So if it takes a $2-3k in lenses or body to do so then that’s what it takes- shut up and spend the money. Kinda like my shitty friend who thinks a stock single cam on a budget will get him to 13’s- can you say “ignorant”?

Big thanks to our friends from down under for putting a fantistic show. For those who missed it, you really missed out. I was only there on competition day, and I felt like I missed out a lot. Again, like MAPerformance BIR event, it was smackdown of all racing and car related mayhem. This time I was able to cover a litle bit more than just the drift event:
When they say "powercruise" they really do mean it. Drviers get to drive the entire track at BIR, no speed limit and helmets required. Now, this is cruising. Checking out the parked cars Finally the main event for me, drift. The course was on the outter skirt of the main area, and it was pretty interestng with a long straight way to gain speed and then a sharp left, go through the tunnel and wide right bank, finishing off with another straight way to hold smoking tires. The boys were testing the first bank hard and coming in super fast with early initiations, ie where the judge was standing. Lot of dirt flying, but few tries later they were able to own it. Since his transformation from the SR, Samuel Henry, has been hasn’t been able to catch a break within the last two years here. The RB, although was pretty mighty, didn’t seem to click altogether and placed 2nd at the NOS 2010 competition. This year, he opted for the Corvette LSx motor and things seem to be going fairly well, with exceptions of some minor issues of course. In front of an official D1 judge, Mr. Henry was able to pull some impressive and clean runs which secured him into 1st place. Congrats to our superstar and well deserved good sir.

Ricekiller Meet, One Melting July

In Minnesota we do it snow or shine, and today we have proven so as it was a melting hot one. Weather was close to the 100s and the humidity was killer. Despite the lame weather, Ricekiller car meet goes on as planned, every Monday nights. This year they seem to have found a home at the parking lot of MAPerfomance. All thanks to the brillant mine of Troy Schultz.
I have met Troy about 2 years ago and finally got a picture with him. Have to say I'm so proud for him for taking Ricekiller as far as he has and more to come.
To those of you who may be intimated by the name "ricekiller" it's not a biased term, and no they don't hate your "rice." Overall, it's a safe and open meet for all type of cars and trends. EPDC Demo, 2011

Wonderful to see my man Eric Moen back on the track. The car sounds incredibly amazing and runs very strong. Look out for this green T-Rex machine- RAWR! Besides a boosting issue, supposedly running at 22 ibs, Audi is always exciting to watch.
Sam, minor issues all night but managed to put down some ferocious runs.
Photography-wise it was pretty challenging consider the boys only had two heats each lasting about five minutes long. I had some time to test my settings but this lens was everything I feared, it sucked; the focus is poor, and the low lighting created quite the issue. Seriously thinking about putting in the market. Now that I have some time to think about it, would have been better to sit outside the track and rely on my stabilizer pole- FAILED.

I prefer shooting drift events because of the wide variety in freedom, angles, elements, and situatitions they pose. Every shot is different and interesting providing plenty of space to be creative for both photographer and editor.

Fugly's Update

In between running the blog, my 9-5er, photo sessions, landscaping (yes, landscaping), family duties (two adorable little girls), and scheming my plans to rule the world, there’s almost no time for Project Fugly. Regardless, I do my best and I have been working on it every chance I get…so far in the last month I’ve been able to get her started (not dizzy related) and customized an intake.

With a lot of consideration, I think it’s time to send her to the professionals. If I keep my current rate, she will not get done before the summer or ever. In the main time, I will try to tackle as much as I can before I send her away…anyone wanna help? Things still on the list includes:(1) adjust the exhaust (may require welding), (2) install seats using purchased brackets(3) install oil catch can, (4) solder the intake, (5) clean up tucked wires, (6) Install camber kits, (7) drop it more- hopefully that’s it.

Enjoying the weekend’s warm weather and getting a tan. Look at the insane amount of garage dust she’s collected.

Just sitting with my mocha when it hit me, "Shit, where's the production yo?" Why call yourself production if all you're doing is reporting and shooting with the natural lighting? Not really doing a service aren't I? Planning a heart to heart with the rest of the cast members and get off on my fat ass.

But for now, enjoying this mocha and drawing up some ideas. In the same train of thought, I'm liking the idea of less car, more girl, and artistry. This round should be fun as there will truly be two heads in one frame, if you get what I'm saying...

My MAPerformance Report, Rd. 2

Round 2 managed to attract about twice the number of drivers, and was just about the much interesting. The day began on a high note, seeing old and new friends, got to see some cool drift cars that I haven’t seen, and best of all, meeting one of my favorite photographer/driver, Keith of TMF. As hint of it started a high note, it ended on a low tone…to find out you can scroll down now. Also, round 2 tries to bring something for everybody- a bikini contest, which it didn't happened or I totally missed it (I would not for the world), and awesome RC actions!I am not a judge, but after seeing day1 and 2, the most improved driver award goes to Michael AKA "Teckno" of this blue/black S14 Zenki edition. First day he was doing a lot of inside banks and was a bit rusty outside, but this weekend ripped hard on the outer banks without much trouble. Best kick ass moment was seeing Max taking PK’s car to its limits connecting the KA-T on the outer bank, super close to the wall too. Max’s initiation was insane almost like he’s taunting the wall and constantly teasing it as he flies by. Gotta watch for this guy in future event for sure. My favorite car of the event is this ’83 Toyota Celica Supra. Super clean inside out. Really cool owner to talk to as well. Yes, I do have a sweet spot for the oldies, mostly imports.

After going back to the pit, I headed up the hill to re-enter the track but Sam and Audi were up and I thought this time I was going to capture it from a different angle. Little did know of the event to follow. Best way to describe it…it was just “weird”. The tandem was awesome, as always, and it came to an end with Sam stopping and about to make an exit out of the track when out of nowhere Audi slams right into Sam’s quarter panel. I was about less than 10 feet from the accident and completely stunned. I’m happy to report both drivers and passengers were ok. This goes to show you that in this sport anything can happen. And after a few adjustments, he was out killing in the evening show like nothing happened- true class.

Model Feature: May Vang

For this month's model feature we proudly present the beautiful and elegant, May Vang. She is Ms. October in our calendar, and beyond a beautiful face she is an abosulte charm and very smart girl with college degree in Paralegal. Ms. Vang was also incrediblily brave in that she was our very first model we shot back in the day- and later invited her in for another shoot. She has incredible features that any photographers will die for, we are certain she will be successful in this business.

1.How did you get into modeling?
I don’t remember how I actually got into modeling, but I’ve always had an interest in it. Friends and family would tell me to take advantage of my weight and maybe try modeling for fun. I took their advice and found that it was not only fun, but a great way to meet people. It’s also a great excuse to pamper myself =)

2. First thing I do in the morning?
I reach over and turn on my radio. I’m a morning person, but at times I still have to force myself out of bed and the music helps me do just that.

3. If I can control time, I would...?
Slow it down a tad. Time is ticking a little too fast for me and there isn’t enough time to do much anymore.

4. My worst car horror story was...?
I can’t think of my worst car horror story, but I can share my most embarrassing car story. I had just bought my Honda, which is a manual, and was getting adjusted to shifting gears. A couple of friends were going downtown to the clubs and so we decided to take my car. As nervous as I was driving downtown, we got there safely. After several hours of having a really good time and calling it a night, I found myself in a difficult situation. The ramp we parked in had a steep exit and I had not yet learned how to achieve the gear shifts and foot work on accomplishing steep roads. I had no choice, but to go through with it. I was doing fine until the car in front of me decided to stop at the top of the exit ramp which meant I had to stop right in the middle of the steep exit. Every time I let go of the pedal to shift gear the car rolled back. Just imagine a couple of girls in the car screaming each time the car rolled back a little. It’s pretty hilarious. To wrap things up, I had to flag down a guy to drive my car out of the ramp. It wasn’t funny during the whole ordeal, but thinking back to it… it was embarrassing and pretty hilarious.

5. Other then modeling, I love doing...?
Spending time with my family and this isn’t a typical pageant answer. Growing up I spent a lot of time away from them, partying and hanging out with friends. Now that my party days are very limited, I love spending time with my family. Whether it’s having the whole family over for dinner or just staying in and having a family meeting. It’s time spent with the most amazing people in my life.

6. Finish the following sentence “Jmuag,...”

7. Any special thanks?
I want to thank my family, friends and loved ones. They are the people in my life that shaped me into what I am today.

Report: MAPerformance and NOS Qualifiers

Besides the gloomy and wet weathers we’ve been getting so far, this weekend was gorgeous and it was without a reason. June 4th was the kickoff to one of four Midwest drift series presented by MAPerformance and NOS Energy Drink Midwest drift event, a repeat of last year’s event. Only this year it was moved to a bigger and more popular spot, Elko Speedway.
I arrived at the track late in the morning (15 min. late), and got a warm reception from all the staffs. It was great to see Daniel McIntosh of NOS Energy Drink and, also, Dan of MAPerformances- which btw, we owe a lot of credits to for coming through in the end for this event. According to him, it was pretty close to not happening.

For today’s photography, I thought I made use of my overpriced and “overrated” wide angle 17-55mm f/2.8 IS. I was a bit disappointed at first, but it began to pay off once I got the chance to move around all over the track. Also, it helped to play around with the backdrop.

However, But at end of day, my cheap, slow, and out of focus 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS was my best friend. I should have started to use it sooner- especially when I was inside the track- next time.

Sam’s LSx gaining more power as the techs at Primo Performance discovered more hidden power inside the motor- and it sure looks like it.

Overall, the event was a blast. The crowd was a good size, and I’m seeing more cool cars in the parking lot. Best of all, I got the see Andrew’s awesome Nissan 1JZ swapped truck – and boy, this thing hauls ass! It looks very well balanced and drifts easily-smoking and spitting rubber as she goes by.

Received a call from Sam of EPDC about a private practice at Raceway and he needed a photographer. Disappointed from ClubFR's cancelled event, I decided to tag along. Overall, was a learning experience for me due to the changing weather and short amount of time- full manual shooting was not best setting to be in.

My Morning started at 9am with a hearty breakfast made by yours truly. Someday I wanna own my breakfast joint.

Shortly after, I rushed to Raceway and got there within 20 minutes. Things seemed kind of quiet at the front parking lot- was about to put on my Pandora when I heard tires screeching like hell. Got my got my gears quickly and got to the track and sure enough Rob was already hitting it hard.

Later, three of the EPDC cars showed up, and things got more interesting.

The owner, Matt Hansen, of this JDM s13 1jz swapped had problem through the entire event and spent most of his time by the garage. Although it seemed pretty frustrating, his mechanic, Jesse Hewitt of Primo Performance, was not afraid to get down and dirty.

Within the hour, it was time to shut down, along with that news of storm was fast approaching. Its amazing what weather does to people- Adam aka "Storm Jumper".

The ride on the way home was just as interesting…(video soon). Later, I joined the guys for some tasty food- perfect way to end a very fun day.

Project Fugly Progress pt. 3

*It's been over a month and due to my frugal like decisions on parts, now Project Fugly (PF) is delayed. In an attempt to stay postive and productive, I decided to start the car up to impress some friends who were visiting. At first crank it struggled a bit, but she fired at second attempt, only to die seconds later. Checking all the basical vital components, I discovered that the distributor was at fault with evidence of oil residue caused by cheap non-oem gasket.

Thanks to a good buddy, I was rescued with a brand new distributor that he had lying around from previous projects. To my surprise, it's the wrong OBD distributor, so a conversion is needed- the fun never stops. I hate you PF!

Despite my hatred for ebay, they are the only few website that carry 'knock off' unconventional and illegal goods. One inch wheel adaptor to make up for disgusting gap in the front.

Another snag that was deferred and looming is the suspension drop in the front. The cheap ebay coils and springs (previous owner's) can't be slammed. I had to cut two coils off the spring and it's still not sitting low enough. I only stopped becuase of the top upper ball joint is hitting the frame. After much online reading, I would need a full coilover set.

Currently waiting on seat bracket to come in. My frugal attempt in using the stock bracket was a total 3 days waste and failure.

In the meantime, getting camber lessons from repairing my RS4 Pro II.

Not Here to Impress You

A lot of people have asked me why do I blog, and usually I follow up with a shoulder shrug. At times, I too question that myself. What's the point of all this? Why dedicate all this work and time for almost nothing? In the begining it was all about business and promoting the production group. But I'd admit, I fallen hard for this trade. I've always had a love for journalism, photography, and cars and this is the perfect medium to which I can indulge in all of three of these passions. So I'm not here for your fucking (and yes I love to swear) amusement or asking for your approvals- ultimately, I do this for myself.

Alexi is one of my all time idol when it comes to bloggers and "underground journalism" (btw, sounds freakin cool). In a nut shell, He runs the famous Noriyaro Website reporting on grass root drifting in various mountains race tracks in Japan. Over the years, he's gained world wide recognizations in magazine publicaitions, websites, and videos. Much love and respect.

Money Hungry Pigs

*With Project Fugly coming to a close being done, I'm somewhat nervious about taking her on the road. The wheel setup is pretty aggressive, pink HID blubs (courtesey of HID Lighting & Accessories), and the car is so damn low that its constantly mopping the pavement as I'm making my way from A to B. I'm a pretty spendy person, but one expense I absolutely hate is blowing it on the police department. So to get to the bottom of it, I went online and found some useful information- and thought I share. The information is from that state of Wisconsin, but a close buddy of mine, who is in training to be a state patrol officer, confimed that it's relatively the same in Minnesota.

Equipment FAQ:
1. What rules must I follow?
Cars must have a rear bumper attached the same way it came from the manufacturer. Pickup trucks do need a rear bumper.

2. What is the height requirement for vehicle bumpers?
For cars, the requirement is two-inches plus or minus manufacturers' specifications.
Pickup trucks may have up to four-inches plus for tires, and five-inches plus for suspension for a combination of an additional nine-inches over manufacturers specifications.

3. What are the limitations concerning tinted windows?
50% front side windows only; 65% rear windows (35% light).

4. May I operate with a cracked windshield?
Yes, depending on where the crack is. It cannot be in the critical area (windshield wiper area). See Transportation rules 305.32 & 305.34.

5. Is it illegal to have decals on my windshield?
Stickers authorized by law (i.e., state park stickers or others issued by a government agency) are allowed four (4) inches up from the bottom of the windshield. See Wisconsin Statute 346.88 (3)(a) and Transportation rule 305.34 (6).

6. May I operate without a rear view mirror?
No, there must be a rear view mirror located inside or outside the vehicle, or both. Side mirrors are required if you cannot see 300 feet to the rear.

7. Is it legal to operate my vehicle with things hanging from my rear view mirror?
No, it is an obstruction of view.

8. When may I operate my fog lights? Off road lights?
During inclement weather with two headlamps (no more than four lights on). Off road lamps mounted outside restrictions cannot be operated on roads. See Transportation rule 305.075(5).

9. May I have a red light visible in my vehicle? (Firemen, EMT's, etc.)
Yes, but the red light does not give you the right to disobey the law when driving.

10. Is it legal to drive with your dome light on?
Yes, however, it is more difficult to see at night with a light on in the vehicle. The light affects night vision. Inattentive driving may be involved, depending why the driver has the light on.

11. Is it legal to flash your bright lights at another vehicle to get them to turn their bright lights off?
Yes, Wisconsin statute 347.12(1) allows for an operator to intermittently flash the vehicle's high-beam headlamps at an oncoming vehicle whose high-beam headlamps are lit.

12. I have auxiliary lights mounted above the cab of my pickup. Are there restrictions?
Yes. They cannot be used for highway use. See Transportation rule 305.075.

13. When is a tire considered to be illegal?
If the tire is worn to the point where part of the ply or cord construction is exposed, or there is less than 2/32 inch tread depth measured at two points no less than 15 inches apart in any major tread groove, at or near the center of the tire.

14. How far may tires stick out past the fender wall?
Two inches, but that protrusion must be covered by fender extension.

15. How high can I "lift" my vehicle?
Four inches.

*photoshoot$: Although JMP does not shoot privately for rate$, we're still receiving requests for photoshoots. Personally, I've responded a few back with very minimal rate- pretty much just covering my gas expenses and a bottle of whiskey for the weekend. I did this shoot for free, because the owner of this car had such a large JMP logo that I couldn't resist.

*Power Updates: We've been getting exciting facebook updates about this s14 from the owner himself. The powerplant of this beast is engineered by Elite Auto Engineering, and is currently back there again, for for more upgrades. I thought that car seemed very powerful and flawless as it was- I can't wait til its finish though.

*American Hybird: its official, from the drift tracks all over the world and now to the small corner of midwest, 2011 is year of the v8. For all you serious drifters, if you're still dicking around with RBs and SRs, in the words of the Black Eyed Peas, "you're 2000 and late." Look at Matt Power, from a sloppy 2010 season to palladium finish- LSX FTW.

*Long December: 3 weeks from now we'll still be talking about the shitty snow that refused to leave Minnesota. Believe it or not, I shot this picture in Late March with 6-12" of snow.

*Plans to Rule the World: I'm a total Blonde (no offense, it's my blog so BLAH) when it comes to DSMs. However, I do know this...this mean machine will rip all your girlfriends' panties off when it hits the track this June. Kudos to our good friends at Primo Performance.

2010 EPDC Drift Demo: re-edit

Anyone who is into media production will probably tell you that in this trade, you'll always suck. Just when you think you know it all, you really don't. And after years of grinding, you'll still be doubting yourself. As an artist I'm my worst critic, and have always aim to do better.

I shot this race scene about a year ago, but did have the confidence to release them. Back then I was too hard on myself about photography and all things correct, such as blah blah exposure, shutter speed, and etc. I'd admit the pressure got to me, so I burried deep in my external file as failed attempts. However, thanks to some readindgs and months of following some of my favorite photographers which are a mixture of various Speedhunters, Mayday Garage , Fatlace, and Motormavens photographers and contributors. Although, I will never come close to their level of skills and mastery- all of them seem to have the same reoccuring messages about photography, which is (1) conversation, (2) style, and (3) have fun.

(1) AKA "what is your fucking point." When they say the a photo holds a million stories (or something to this affect) as a photographer that has to be true all the time. And as photographers we owe it to our audiences to make them curious by providing each frame with a story. (3) AKA "indentity." This is a chance for you ( photographer) to hint your audience about who you are. I'm not talking about the ink on your photos, but the elements within. I can tell the difference between a Jose Martinez from a Larry Chen (which by the way are awesome D1 photographers). (3) AKA "fuck your photography lango." Simply put, over expose under expose my ass. Our knowledge of "correct" photography is not one to following by, otherwise, we'd all just shoot with Ashton Kutcher's cameras. Collin's s13 Build: Luscious Yellow

If I was ever a drift judge, I'd give the owner of this luscious s13, Collin Melody of EPDC, top points for appearance. Besides the Bunny Rocket Kit, this MB bodykit is by far one of the sexiest thing I've ever seen on a s13. On top of it all, its a bonus that it is yellow. Although only a few cars can look good in this color, I think Mr. Melody's paint choice gamble has paid off beautifully, I love it! Now the next thing is to shoot it properly, although editing was a bet of challenging I love working on track cars. I bet it'll look 2x better on the track, and can't wait to shoot it again going sideways.

At the moment the car is still in it's building process, but Mr. Melody promises of great things to come- as listed:

Honda /acura since the days of RJ have always been looking to add muscle to every aspects of the car. Done are the days of body kits, motor swaps, internal upgrades, and even boost. A new wave of style is starting to pick up, thanks to the populatiry of drift. It's really an old concept, but just now more and more kids are starting to pick up on it, "stance." Or if not done right, "vette jerks" (phrase copy right by JMP).

Here's a 97 Integra with a moderate H22 build and Hondata equiped, all for fun street/highway/track pulls. Satisfied with his current power, the owner wanted a beefer look and decided to work on his stance. After some quick rolls and pulls and a test drive around, I thought I snap a few. The owner is current in battle with which color to paint, red or white? If you ask me, both- LOL.

JMP Feature: Rio Patterson's MDU Experience

The first drift event of the season is always a hectic one from gathering money for event fee, gas, tires, food, where your gonna sleep and getting the car 100% before heading out. So its friday 2 days before MDU rd.1 and is helping the guys get their cars ready, Audi Riza aka "choo choo" driver of the white s13 missle was pretty much all set to go so there was minor work involved. On the other hand we have Sam Henry aka "papa jiggy" drive of the rapebull s13.5 who ditched the amazing rb25 with a 6262 for a na ls6 and had only got the car running for the first time a few days prior. Ton of work to be done but EPDC is always determined to make it.

Bored out of my mind on facebook I see a local sponsor/ good friend Jmuag Productions wont be able to attend the event and take pictures, I've always been a die hard fan of the dslr's and have been wanting to use them and learn more about them so I gave him a call and shit you not he gave me the opportunity! Little does he know I was stoked about the opportunity. Recieved the equipment about 1am got up and went to get a good meal before heading out with Adam Montante epdc member with the gold coupe so we headed to the guthrie theater where is awesome girlfriend is a chef so she hooked us up with awesome meatball subs a parfait and a drink, after eating we checked the place out for a bit and took a few pics of minneapolis.

ALL ABOARD!!! Its finally time to leave after leaving about 8 hours late and fixing minor issues we were on the road along with the guys from PRIMO PERFORMANCE who do awesome work and ready for the long drive from Minnesota. About 45 minutes into the drive the vans belt tensioner broke so we pull into mcdonalds which has a truck stop. luckily for us there was an auto store pretty close with parts in hand. While some of the guys are fixing the van the rest of us are chilling, hanging out talking, doing tricks on bikes, and fucking around. Sam decideds to pull out the go pro and do a few tricks with the bike, but he also had another up his sleeve..... talking to the guys in the drive thru with his go pro helmet cam he decided it would be funny to pull my pants down in front of the whole mcdonalds! funniest shit ever and you could see the guys in the drive thru kinda pissed while their girlfriends got all hot and bothered lol. fixed the van and we were back on the road after a few more stops which made the trip an even longer haul.

The trip itself wasn't bad at all we had plenty of room in the van, had movies on the laptop, music going, snapping pics and snacks galore. Day of the event you can see everyone came with the mindset that failure is not an option and you can also tell CUZ THEY GOT THAT MONAAAYY. Seeing familiar faces is always a good time and relaxes you a way that cant be explained. Pretty sure I was the camera man with the least experience out there but I was determined to show what I got! I believe I was even the first one taking pics and making sure I got use to the different lenses available. Comes time for the media meeting and I see a few guys with bright orange safety jackets on, facepalm I dont have one fortunately due to it being the first event they let it slide long as we make sure were safe, a sigh of relief!

s13.5, s14 and V8 haven literally. On a good note there were a few cars that stood out from an s12, volvo 240, mike with his amazing sounding fc and a guy with a baller fd you can tell he had that monaayy lol. Time for the first heat, cars getting lined up so I had to pic a spot for awesome pics so me and a local drifter Jordan Potter hit the infield of the track no jackets nothing only equipment and ready for action. I learned alot within a matter of minutes of how you have to turn with a cam, how many times you have to focus in and out and also how you have to try and stay out of the action shot for other camera guys. Having up close action is a complete blast except for the amount of rubber thats thrown on your face like a girl getting skeeted on for a porno but its worth the amazing shot.

Audi was blazing thru the track multiple times laying down awesome runs and even a few run ins with the wall but that wasn't stopping him. Sam also did an amazing job even being completely new to his setup he put down really good runs but due to tire issues and correcting during transitions it prevented him from qualifying. For Audi he ended up spinning and sliding into a wall for his qualifying run which prevented him from moving on.

Fiberglass explosions and wall tap love had to be the memo for the day because just about every driver tapped the wall and goes the same for kit explosions. Somehow me and Jordan became the cleaning crew since we were the only guys cleaning the track for fiberglass and other parts almost every other run. Seemed as if some drivers wanted to be one with the clipping point numerous times so they just kept taking cones out. Being on the track was a work out indeed 70 degree weather, running back and forth almost every run to pick up pieces and set up cones, no water no food I should of been on the biggest loser.

Time for a NEW SPOT!!! Right along the rail wall theres about a 5 foot gap with concrete cylinders behind them. PERFECT I thought and it sure was! Catching all the actions right as the drivers are tapping the wall and smoke/rubber covering me and the lens I knew I had the best spot. I was actually the only one with that spot then other media guys caught on but I still had to be different so I decided to stand on the concrete barrier to be able to get wall tap shots from above right in front of me.

The event was a signifigant success tandemonium, crowd roars, and drivers pissing excellence. But it all came down to two drivers Kris Hackenson the zombie and his street hooker trash s14 against another v8 s14! The first round was nuts they drove tandemed like the drivers for team orange inches away. ONE MORE TIME!! was called and kris followed with a wall tap staying on the drivers rear quarter with perfect clipping points. Time for Kris Hackenson to lead lays down an outrageous run with the following s14 spinning out and Kris crushing the run along with the side of the s14 right after the finish! If there was anyway to win and show that you went all out!! that was the way to go, congrats to Kris Hackenson and his street hooker trash s14.

C'MON'N RIDE THE TRAIN IF YOU WANNA CHOO CHOO- This is by far the best way i've ever seen an event end a tandem train for anyone with the balls and a cage to tandem. About 15 cars lined up and it was absolutely nuts watching a bunch of drivers slide together like the famous ebisu videos with no crashes and they did this multiple times back to back MDU OVERALL WAS A SUCCESs. EMPTY POCKETS DRIFT CREW cant wait for the upcoming MDU events!!!!

A shot but surprising weekend

Aside from the fact that my weekend was mostly shot, and should have been living the dream in Indianapolis, I got a surprised phone call about helping a fellow car enthusiast on rolling his fender. Trying to make the most of my weekend, I called up my trusty buddy to tag along, gathered my equipments, and decided to pay a visit.

When I was told it’d be a MR2, little did I know it was “the MR2.” This thing was gorgeous and well cared for with lots of tasty high-end parts. The car was a nice glistering dark blue with sparkling pearl flakes (reminds me of my old EF8), and sitting on a set of super rare Wise Sports wrapped on the Nitto Invos. Among other things, when we arrived the owner was in the middle of a $3k oversized Wildwood brake kit.

-only on way to edit when a photo is overexposed and with lots of time to burn.

I'm not one to write a tech. write-up, but here's my attempt to explain fender rolling at the request of some of you. FYI: At the request of the owner, the operation was not a full roll- I didn't even get to use the tilt feature. Enjoy, now I have to go drink my disappointment away.

JMP Driver #3: Audi Riza

JMP is proud to reveal our third sponsor driver, Audi Riza of EPDC. For those who don't know it, Mr. Riza is a reliable tandem partner of Sam Henry, and seems to be his ultimate counterpart on the track. Both drivers display a high level of driving skils and are amazing to watch, but Audi’s roughness, speed, and high pitch BOV is enough to get any fan-boy off their seats. If you don’t believe me, consider this, this will be his third year in drifting and his third chassis already. The first official Midwest Pro Am drift event will happen this Sunday in Indiana, the weeks of waiting has turned into just days now. Knowing Audi’s unforgiving style of driving, I thought I take a couple of snaps before this beautiful machine sees the track again. GOOD LUCK this weekend buddy!

Audi Riza (choo choo train), 91 s13 KA-T

1. How did you get into drifting? i got into drifting because i always like racing sport. i was in to autocross for about 5 years and my best friend "Nick Han" heard about drifting, we decide to try drifting instead of autocrossing that year and hooked till now.

2. great accomplishments in drifting? i haven't really gone to a lot of competition, just a lot of practice. but i took 5th qualy and 5th on the comp in NOS/93x event. and will have better this year.

3. how many wreck(s) have you gotten? and the worst one? i've wrecked 3 cars so far. the worst one would be my third chassis, hit the wall in Elko "meshown" backward about 45mph for qualifying. the crash lift the rear driver side and broke the exhaust, rear windshield and seat bracket. took the exhaust out, fix the seat and drift again!

4. you seem to have a unique style- how can you best describe it? i never thought that i have a unique style of drifting, but i drift my hardest, or some say balls to the wall. if the car cant continue drift at 65mph entry then try 75mph.

5. any advice to anyone wanting to drift? drifting is a really fun and challenging sport. just like living your life. set your mind, dont quit after the first crash or accident, it will hurt your body and your wallet, but that is part of the game. DREAM to your wildest dream! and let's DRIFT

6. Where can we find you drifting this year? this season i'll be at NOS drift events in raceway park, MAP proving ground in BIR, some of MDU events and ClubFR events. see you there! call me!

7. where do you wanna be in next year or so as far as drifting? next year will be my real proving ground. trying to be in the competition and win it. bigger competition year after that and so on, till i get my invitation to Irwindale, CA and joining formula D.

Something is brewing at JMP, it involves hot cars and models- you know it! Although we have stated that we will not be working on a calendar this year, I received a call from Troy Schultz of Rice Killers- so a possible calibration is likely. Troy is an amazing business man and knows his money to the pennies (I need someone like that in my life), but beyond that, he’s got great artistic vision as well. So Ricki, looks like you got something fun and challenging coming up.

A GS300's Stance in Progress

I just love how some cars are so bomb themselves that all you gotta work on is stance. Here’s a ’99 GS300 with a bit of drift touch. I love these particular year and model with a passion- its wide body and the already beefed fenders are"winnings". Also, the JZ motor is another big plus.

The car belongs to my brother, who happened to park at my house one Friday evening. He knows how much I love this car, and when he left for some errands- I waited till the sun came down a bit and pulled out the camera made her work for me. Now only if I had the key…

Return of the Champ: Samuel Henry

JMP is proud to announce our second sponsor driver of 2011, the returning champ, Samuel Henry. Mr. Henry never fails to disappoint and this year, he’s given us a more reason to cheer. The powerful and terrifying sounding RB25 has been sold off and instead a true American legendary beast machine, Corvette Z06, has been swapped in.

Local Feature: Karen Nou Yang

To all you youngsters who want to do photography (including me) or anyone looking for a photographer, JMP proudly presents Karen Nou Yang. In my earlier days of photography research, I would secretly read and follow about 10-20 blogs and photography websites. One day, I decided to take my research (or as Karen puts it, “stalking”- LOL) on my MySpace account. I decided to look up all of my MS friends who had “photography” at end of their names. Aside from the countless “HDR”and automatic setting photographers, it was, to say the least, refreshing to see Ms. Yang’s photos. Her work was exactly like what a lot of well known photographers were doing at the time, which was shooting beyond what the camera allows you to. Her colors were vibrant, sophisticated, and help set the mood for each frame. Keep up the great work!

1. Karen Nou Yang Photography (KNY) is...?

I’d say, Karen Nou Yang Photography is… fresh?! Lol, I really don’t know how I’d describe my work. I have no real motive, or goal for what I do. I mean, as a free-lance photographer- I pride myself in putting out work that is new, young, and contemporary. And I always try to put out quality work that I know others would enjoy. I guess KNY is a just a regular, 21 year old female photographer, that is always looking for something different, something edgy, and something that stands out. But KNY as a person… you can say she’s actually quite shy. Ha ha. She’s always up for a good time w/ good company; but she is also a homebody, she definitely puts others before herself, she works (way too much), she enjoys music, she loves photography, she loves shopping, she loves being herself! Ha. She’s your typical girl. She’s got her issues, and she’s got her ups, but underneath all the “glitz and glam” of her KNY LABEL, she’s just Karen. This nobody photographer with a fb full of okay photos taken with her crappy dslr camera. Haha.

2. How did you get into photography?
I’ve always been a very artsy person. I was probably in the eighth grade when I really started getting into web design/photography. I always played around with Photoshop and from there; I slowly began understanding the tools that I now use when I shoot and edit photos. My co-worker was into photography before me (http://www.photosbyrobin.com/), and I guess you can say, she kind of pushed me into it. She noticed that I had “an eye for photography,” and was really the one who fueled my drive to start shooting.

3. Who is your inspiration for photography?

I’d definitely say the media. Magazines, the online web, television… I get inspiration from almost everything and anything I see and look at. I feed off of a variety of things.

4. Did you go to school for photography?

I get this question a lot from clients/friends/photographers, but no. I didn’t go to school for it, I didn’t take classes… I’ve learned everything on my own, or from friends. I also get a lot of tips/help from other young and upcoming Hmong photographers that a lot of us see online as well.

5. What's the hardest part about your profession?

There really isn’t a hard part in what I do, because I don’t shoot full-time. I guess you can say meeting a new client for the first time is always really nerve-racking. And dealing with an un-happy client is always hard. But I’m lucky I haven’t had many.

6. Ever dropped a camera?

Omg, no! I haven’t yet. And I’m so glad. My photography equipment is some of the most expensive items I own.

7. What your camera are you using now?

Would like to use in the future? I started out with the Canon rebel xti, I now have the Canon rebel xs. Not the best of the best DSLR cameras out there, but they are good to me I also shoot with the 50mm f/1.4 & I just got the 35mm f/2.0. I am aiming to shoot with the Canon 5D mark II in the near future! I just think stepping into full-frame photography would definitely up my game in photography.

8. When I'm editing I like to... ?

It goes a little like this… - I fix exposure.- I play around in curves.- Then I play up hue/saturation.- Then I use color match to fix any color distortions.- Then I match color to add vibrancy and more color to the photo.- Then I fix skin imperfections.- Then I run a few actions if needed, and then I sharpen the final photo.

9. Ever used a car as your subject?
No. I haven’t had a session yet involving a car. But I have had ideas of using one as a prop.

10. "Never say never" moments in KNY (days like you feel like trashing it all but didn't)?

There are a few days when I have trouble dealing with photography and the clients and the “drama” it all brings. One of my biggest pet peeves, is when my clients try to change my prices. I mean, photographers have set prices for a reason. And when clients come to me and ask for certain favors/discounts it makes me kind of angry. I mean, I put out good work. And I don’t charge as much as I could. And people still message me about how they’re broke or how my prices are so high, blah blah blahhh. And what I really want to say is, hello?! I’m a photographer, I really shouldn’t even care if you do or don’t have the money, because if you don’t have the money, don’t come to me! You know?! But it’s just like, I’m not that type of person. So I always end up coming to a reasonable deal with my clients. Idk, some days are better than others, definitely. So I just take them as they come.

11. Any word(s) of advice for anyone who is wanting to add "photography" next to their name?

Hmmm. No real advice. No real strategy or method into becoming a photographer… I’d just say, if you want to be taken seriously as a real, authentic photographer; don’t get ahead of yourself. Don’t act or come-off as if you’re the best. Put out good, quality work. And feed off of the feedback you get from your peers. But don’t let anyone’s’ comments or words change your mind about anything you do either. And don’t let any negative feedback get you down. Change and follow up with things that best suits you. Don’t mold yourself into something that people want you to be. Do what you do, and do it with pride. Get to know your camera, crowd, and community. Keep yourself motivated. And promote yourself any way you can (Facebook, MySpace, blogs, and websites). And last, always always ALWAYS, believe in your work. If you believe in your work and love it, then other people will too.

12. Any shout outs or rants?

Definitely wanna shout out to my family; for being the first of the first to see my work and actually tell me they love it and for believing in it. Then to Robin, for helping me out with all my questions and for keeping me posted on new photography talk. Ha. Then to my boyfriend, for being my #1! I love you Chu. 2nd Edition: Go Hard

About One week ago, we released a sample of the “Go Hard” t-shirt design on Face Book and opened for opinions. We made a decision not to explain/defend the design of the shirt at all; instead it was purely an opinionated survey. Within two days we got over 30 remarks with the majority in the nays, and only 4 out of 14 liked it. Thanks for the responses, now here’s JMP’s explanation.

I’ll admit the design may take a bit to get used to, but we wanted to make this shirt for the car fans; something that someone can proudly stand out at the track and in the office. Although it features a drift car (Eric Moen of EPDC), the picture is pretty neutral, but we felt it could reach out to anyone in the automotive sport; can’t go wrong with tire smoke. Also, there’s is no mention of our name or logo, this one’s purely for you. The phrase “go hard” says it all too, it’s a phrase many athletes are familiar with, but and we figured might serve as motivation for most people in their daily struggles. Go hard!

One would think with over 80% in the negatives, we should change the design- but did oil companies lower gas prices when idiots decided to protests? No! Or did Gov. Walker of Wisconsin listen as hippies took to the streets? No! All kid on side, although some minor changes and additions might be needed, overall, we LOVE the design. Please tune in for update and t-shirt releases in late spring.

Hardest Working Drift Crew out of Minnesota, EPDC

Just sitting here @ the office. A little bit frustrated about the atmosphere around here so I figured I’d let my mind stray for a little while….

Thinking about the up and coming drift season makes my chest race. Seriously. I know that if you are a drifting nut job like one of us, you will completely feel where I’m coming from. On a weekly basis I will be driving to one of my appointments and I will be in such a deep state of mind visualizing being on the track in certain scenarios that make my chest flutter so much that I nearly drive off of the road.

2011 should be a pretty exciting and VERY busy year with lots of venues. I can’t stress how many venues/events there will be. Everything from Practice at Raceway Park to MAPerformance Proving Grounds @ BIR on June 25th & 26th.The Midwest Cup series sneaking back over to Elko and Even La Crosse WI (or as I call it “LaCrashe”). Don’t forget about the NOS Events either. I will just say that there will be a few this year…as a series!!!!!, so get ready and have an ambulance near by after you have a mini stroke from consuming so damn many NOS Energy Drinks. TANDEMONIUM!!! BWWAAHHH!!!!!

A lot of us plan on making it to events outside of the nest as well. Such as the Midwest Drift Union/Formula D Pro Am series. Events include:April 3 - Sportsdrome Speedway: Jeffersonville, IndianaMay 15 - Autocity Speedway: Clio, MichiganJuly9 - Lucas Oil Raceway: Indianapolis, IndianaAugust 21 - Nashville Super Speedway: Nashville, TennesseeSeptember 17 - Kilkare Speedway (Street Life Tour): Xenia, OhioThis series should be packed with top drivers from the Midwest, seems like its going to be the “Big Pond” for this season. Top competitors this season get an invite out to Irwindale, CA to compete for their FormulaD Professional licenses.

As far as an Empty Pockets Drift Crew update goes:

Collin Melody –A few weeks agao, him and a few of the guys went up to Matt’s shop in Wisconsin for an extreme paint job. About 16 hours went into this with limited body work. Let me tell you, this is an awesome paint job for Collin’s Drift car. I’ve seen 30+ hour paint jobs that have less attention to detail. Pictures do not do this thing justice. The yellow is so intense that it almost hurts a person’s eyes..He still has a bit of work left- building a KA24E-T that’s going to be a total monster. 400whp+???? We will see!

Eric Moen- Building his KA24E-T as well, shooting for big numbers on a brand new Precision turbo. Eric and Collin should be a pair of nut jobs to watch out for this year. The green dinosaur is going to be meaner than ever on a sick tune!

Adam Montante- Building his KA24DE-T. Ditched the SR at the end of last year for some KA24 Torque!. Shooting for big numbers and maybe some fresh paint…If you want to know anything about tires, talk to Adam. He will hug you and then fill your brain with tire knowledge! lol

Jason Goldsworthy- Putting a fuel cell in his Audi, along with doing some wiring and putting in another 5 cylinder and gutting the car. Keeping this thing on a diet so that the Audi Coupe will be completed for next season. Google an Audi coupe if you don’t know what it is. Epic 90’s styling. Period. Probably the most unique build so far.

Rio Patterson- Has a top secret crazy Japanese engine build in the works, but that’s going on the backburner for now. Dropping an SR20DET into Scooter Jones old Chassis and getting out there with a beefed up SR by early summer. Wait until you see the cage.. its pretty gnarly.

Matt Hansen- The 1JZ swapped sil80 is pretty much done. Needs some paint, a little wiring clean-up and will be on the track for the first event. I’m pretty much convinced that the 1JZGTE is the SEXIEST sounding engine to date. Prove me wrong.Leaving the stock twins on for some long powerband action, excited to see this guy progress throughout the year.

Audi Riza AKA- CHOO CHOO TRAIN!!!! (don’t ask lol)Did some INSANE body work at Matt’s shop and pulled out the completely annihilated rear end. Looks pretty damn good compared to the smashed can it was after last year.Painted snow white with some new upgrades like an ASD Hydro-brake, gauges and engine mods. Watch out for Audi, if you haven’t seen this guy drive… you are completely missing out. I can’t wait to tandem door to door with this mad man!

As for myself (Sam Henry)- Running into a couple snags with the LS6 swap, but its moving forward.Lots of chassis wiring left, need an exhaust and some miscellaneous fittings and lines. Should be running within 2-3 weeks. I’ll post up a mild build thread later on.Hopefully you guys will love the Rapebull just as much with it being powered by a Z06 Corvette V8, some new wheels, ASD Hydro-brake, new vinyl scheme and some sick sponsors!

Elite Auto Engineering Solving All Your Turbo Needs

I paid a visit to my old buddies at Elite Auto Engineering, no longer "Elite Autosport." Lots have been changed since the year, not only physically but also from a business stand point, hence the “engineering”. The shop space has been renovated for efficiency purposes. Once were a lot of car, turbo, and miscellaneous race parts lying around- it’s now been replaced with large heavy machineries. These machines are the very reasons why the "engineering" has been incorporated into their new name, and has allow them produce rare race parts and accessories for any custom turbo setup. I failed to save some of the photos I did of some of their finished products- but did managed steal this badass turbo setup for the Genesis off their new website. Keep up the good work guys!

Feature Model: Alex Chang

JMP sits down with former Miss Hmong Minnesota Alex Chang about her JMP shoot, life, and future aspirations. Ms. Chang was very easy to work with and very experienced under the lens. Her experiences in past photoshoots and pageants shows in her poses. We could show them all but for this feature we decided to pick a few and put a bit of spin into it- just trying to have fun.

Alex has wonderful eyes and the make up artists did a great job. Thanks to all who helped.

1. What are you up to these days?
Work and getting things ready for the Hmong new year Pageant, I work all year round for that. Beside that working on a photoshoot to update my profile.

2. How did you get into modeling?
I'll have to thanks the two sisters Luci Vang and Aleen Vang. As a young girl i never picture myself to be a model, i didnt like makeup and dress up or to even pose in front of someone. About a fews years back i saw the works of Aleen's photo and makeup and I was amaze.
I met the sisters at the Hmong New Year in 2008 we have a talk about doing a photo shoot and since then ive been doing photo shoot/ modeling. So Once again I want to Thanks Luci Vang and Aleen Vang.

3. I hear you are part of the Hmong Pageant-how did you get involved?
Yes I won Miss Hmong American in 2008, since then ive asked to help with many pageant events. While going into the pageant in 2008, I just thougt this could be something fun for me to learn and find who I am. And here I am today.

4. What do you drive currently?
2001 suzuki grand vitara, yes suzuki's are still around... lol

5. What do you prefer drift, street, drag, or nascar?
Street racing, like fast and furious style

6. What do you like to do on your spare time?
Spend time with my boyfriend and the girls. Shopping like every other girls. Eating out, I love SUSHI!!

7. Free style and shot outs, rants?
I hate my boyfriend's hondas cause they are loud. I dont like Loud car :D

8. What is your dream car?
Infinity g35

9. What are you excited this summer?
Nothing really, i just hope to have lots of fun and more photo shoot before the snow come again.

Belive it or not, the photoshoot with Jmuag was something new for me. As many poeple may know i dont do model/photo shoot with people that i dont know too well of or their work. So the only people that ive been with is Aleen and Luci. And everyone have their own way of taking photo.

I've seem many import modeling, and this was a first import photo shoot. At first i was a bit scare to do this shoot because ive never model with object before. And modeling with an object isnt the same as modeling with yourself alone.

Though out the shoot I have to remind myself "Its not all about you, got to have the car too" Ive learn something new that day to help improve my modeling and its something new i tried and I have a great time with it.

Behind every great modern driver is a media group. Among other things, JMP is happy to announce we will be flollowing three Minnesota drifters. Stay tune for some fancy media work. First, I want to introduce Max Crocker of Fargo Minnesota.

Objective
As the 2010 drift season came to an end, I knew that I wanted to pursue bigger and better things. In the 2011 season I am going to work very hard to obtain FormulaD and DMCC pro licenses. I plan on running a full XDC (www.xtremedriftcircuit.com) schedule and Midwest Cup series to do so. Along with as many DMCC events that time allows.

I will be working to create and build a large local drift community. I want to bring national attention to North Dakota, my team, and my sponsors.

Background
I am a huge automotive and motorsport enthusiast. By day I am a heavy duty diesel Technician. I work on over the road semi trucks. When I am not working or spending time with my family, I dedicate my time to the automotive scene. Whether it be setting up local meets or attending local race events.

In 2009 I owned and drifted a 1987 Mazda Rx7 T2. I currently own and drifted 1993 Nissan Skyline r33. I am in the process of building a 1993 Mazda rx7 FD3S for the 2011 XDC/FormulaD/DMCC season.

I have attended many car shows, automotive meets, and motorsport events. I will continue to do so in 2011.

Crackhead Deal

If this weather keeps up global warming will come true and we'd all die in 30 years, but for now I'm loving it. The weather feels cool, snow is thawing (no more ice dame concerns), and things are looking for the better. I've scanned around and seen some really cool car projects people are doing for the spring. As for myself, by some either luck or disaster, I found a "crackhead" deal on a new camera body, 50% off normal retail price. Crossing fingers til it gets ship to my house. One things for sure, it's going to be an exciting summer!

But it's Minnesota and you could be in a blizzard come next week so for the next three days here, enjoy.
